Continuous Care

The software we built for you should keep getting better without another project kickoff.

Continuous Care is how we stay with the application after a North Star engagement ships. One fixed monthly rate covers the work that keeps your system fast, secure, and useful: performance, bug fixes, and the features and tweaks you ask for as the business moves.

What Continuous Care is

A standing relationship with the team that already knows your system.

Most software shops treat the months after launch as a warranty window, then move on. You open a ticket portal, wait in a queue, and eventually get a quote for the next small change. That model was designed for the vendor’s pipeline, not for an owner who still has a business to run.

Continuous Care is the opposite of that. You stay on a flat monthly subscription with the same senior US developers who built the application. They already understand your workflows, your data, and the way your people use the system every day. When something slows down, breaks, or simply needs to work a little differently, you tell us. We do the work. There is no new scoping exercise for every request, and we will not upsell you back into a larger North Star project just because you asked for a feature.

The rate is fixed. The relationship is month-to-month. The goal is simple: the software that runs your business keeps earning its keep.

What's included

Everything that keeps a working system working, and improving.

There is no separate line item for “support” versus “development.” If it belongs to the application we share responsibility for, it is part of Continuous Care.

Performance and reliability.

When a report that used to take two minutes starts taking twenty, or a page that felt snappy starts dragging at month-end, that is our problem to solve. Continuous Care includes the monitoring, diagnosis, and fixes that keep the system responsive under real load, not just the load we tested against on launch day.

Bug fixes and security.

Something wrong in production gets fixed. Something that should never have been possible gets closed. We keep dependencies current enough to stay safe, and we treat security patches as part of ordinary care rather than a special project you have to authorize under pressure.

Features, fixes, and tweaks, without a ceiling.

You can request anything the system should do better: a new export, a cleaner screen for the warehouse, a small workflow change that saves your office manager an hour a week. There is no ticket allotment and no “out of scope this month” letter. Send the request. We put it on the work list and ship it when it is next in line.

People who already know the map.

You are not explaining your business to a rotating help desk. Continuous Care is staffed by senior US developers who either built the system with you or inherited a deep working knowledge of it. That is why small requests stay small, and why we can usually tell you, in plain English, whether something is a twenty-minute change or a real design decision.

How we spend our attention

Same craftsmanship. A calmer cadence.

Pilot West is a small studio, and our best work comes from focused attention rather than a crowd of half-engaged hands. When a client is in an active North Star engagement, that work gets a dedicated developer’s primary focus for the week. The system is still being shaped. Decisions stack up. Shipping the outcome you hired us for takes concentrated time.

Continuous Care sits in a different register. Your application is already in production, already earning its keep, and already known to our team. We keep it healthy, answer every request you send, and ship improvements on a measured rhythm that fits a mature system rather than a build sprint. You are never on hold with a call center, and you are never forgotten in a backlog that only moves when someone is free. The difference is cadence and intensity of focus, not the quality of the people on the work.

Think of it the way a good hotel thinks about guests. Some guests are in for a full renovation of the suite. Others live there year-round and need the room kept right, the small repairs done promptly, and the occasional improvement when they ask for it. Both are guests of the house. Both get the same standard of care. One simply needs more of the staff’s hours in a given week.

If a request on Continuous Care grows into something that would benefit from a dedicated North Star push, we will say so plainly and let you choose. We will not force that conversation. Most Continuous Care work is exactly what it sounds like: steady, high-trust care for software that already works.

How it actually runs

You ask. We work. There is no theater around it.

When something comes up, you send a note to the people who know the system. We acknowledge it, ask the one or two clarifying questions that matter, and put it into the work queue with everything else we are carrying for you. You do not fill out a severity form. You do not negotiate a change order for a three-hour tweak.

As work ships, you see it the same way you did during the build: in the real application, with the people who use it, not buried in a release note you have to interpret. If something is urgent because the business is blocked, we treat it that way. If something is a nice improvement for next month, we sequence it with the rest of your requests so the important things still land first.

The fixed monthly rate is the whole commercial story. Performance work, bug fixes, security, and the features you request all live under that rate. There is no meter running in the background, and no invoice that arrives after the fact because “that one was extra.”

The practical terms

Month-to-month, with a way out that does not require a lawyer.

Continuous Care is a subscription, not a multi-year contract. You can scale the level of engagement up if the business is pushing hard on new work, or scale down if things are quiet. You can cancel when the arrangement no longer serves you. We work this way on purpose: a relationship that has to be locked in with paper is usually a relationship that is not earning its keep on its own.

You already own the code from the North Star engagement. Continuous Care does not change that. If you ever leave, you leave with the application, the history, and the ability to hand it to someone else. We would rather keep the work by being useful than by holding the keys.

If you already have software that matters, Continuous Care is the quiet way to keep it that way.

Whether you are finishing a North Star engagement with us or wondering what a standing relationship with a senior team would look like, a thirty-minute call is enough to see if Continuous Care fits. We will tell you if it does, and we will tell you if a focused project is the better first step.
